Cassie is the diminution of my name, Cassandra. I browsed through books for baby names and found out that my name is from a Greek origin which means inflaming men with love.
Yes, I do inflame men with love. I inflame them with my love for politics. The day I went to middle school, I already know that I am destined to conquer the Congress. I went to law school right after college. No time was wasted during those years simply because I know what I want and how to get it.
There is something astonishing with politics. I find pleasure in the way people argue about certain pieces of legislation. There are even instances where my fellow legislators push themselves beyond their limits to get their messages across. That’s just the kind of environment I want to thrive on. Everyone is so driven. Everyone is determined to get what they want. Like what I always say, it is through intense heat and high pressure that the greatest diamonds are created.
It is also during my law school years that I met my husband, Damien. We both know from day one that our passion for politics will keep us together. He was my adviser, my companion, my friend, my husband and my lover. He was near perfect.
We married two years before I started campaigning for Congress. I had no regrets in doing such because he was the one who stands by me every time I feel like quitting. Two years after settling down in Congress, we started our family. We have two wonderful kids, Alison and Jack.
